ADVENT SUNDAY SERVICES

Our Sunday services during Advent are an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the season and worship together as a community

Our Sunday Services during Advent

Advent Sunday, the start of the Christian year, is a significant moment in the church calendar, ushering in a season of expectation and preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth and His eventual return. Unlike the calendar year, which begins on 1st January, the Christian year begins with Advent, a time to spiritually reset and reflect on God’s promise of redemption.

This new beginning invites believers to reorient their lives toward Christ, embracing themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. It’s a time of active waiting, marked by prayer, scripture, and worship, as the community journeys together through the story of God’s faithfulness and the anticipation of His Kingdom.

This Advent, why not take time to reflect at home with our Parish approved book, The Radiant Dawn? It’s a wonderful collection of twenty five daily readings to inspire and guide you through the season. We’re also excited to host a Fairtrade Stall, offering a fantastic selection of Christmas cards, wrapping paper, wearables, and delicious treats. By shopping with us, you’ll be supporting a great cause and spreading the spirit of fairness and generosity this Christmas. And don’t forget to pick up your Advent candles - perfect for adding light and meaning to your daily reflections!

Sunday 1st December

Sunday 1st December will be the first day of Advent where we prepare for the celebration of Christ's birth.  At Wargrave's 9.45am service, we welcome Kate Woods from Tearfund where she oversees the Church Speaker Programme in Tearfund’s Church and Community Team. She loves to share the impact of what God is doing through His church, with congregations and audiences of all shapes and sizes.
