Weekly Notices
Thursday 17th April 2025
As we draw near to Easter, we find ourselves once again walking the way of Holy Week - a journey through sorrow and sacrifice, reflection and hope. Today, on Maundy Thursday, we remember Jesus sharing a final meal with his disciples, kneeling to wash their feet, and giving us a new command: to love one another as he has loved us.
Across the parish, there are many opportunities to gather, to pause, and to reflect on the meaning of these sacred days - from the solemnity of Good Friday to the quiet waiting of Holy Saturday, and the joy of Easter morning. Whether you're able to attend one service or all of them, you are warmly invited to come as you are and walk with us through the story that changes everything.
Below is a reminder of all of our services across the Parish this Holy Week. We hope you'll join us.

Bible Readings
This year, we will observe Maundy Thursday with a Tenebrae service, a deeply moving service of light and shadow. Through scripture readings, music, and the gradual extinguishing of candles, we journey through the growing darkness of Jesus' final hours. The service ends in silence, symbolising the weight of the night when Christ was taken from his disciples. Thursday 17th April | 7pm | St Mary's
Witness, as we journey through the village together in silent reflection on Good Friday - 18th April at 10am. At each stop there will be a reading, prayer and music. Everyone is welcome, with pushchairs, prams, wheelchairs, dogs and cats on leads, parishioners bring your visitors if they are in Wargrave for Easter. It's not necessary to complete the whole route. VE Day Service
Join us at St Mary's as we come together to commemorate VE Day with a special service of remembrance and gratitude, in collaboration with the Royal British Legion. This is a time to honour the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom and to reflect on the lasting peace their efforts secured. Whether you have a personal connection to this historic day or simply wish to pay your respects, all are welcome to share in prayer, reflection, and community. We look forward to welcoming you.
